AOL has been much derided over the years, but it is still widely
used and attractive to many. The last AOL client available for
Mac OS 8 and 9 was already well behind the PC client in terms
of features, but it was stable (ignorning any service disconnects
as a result of telephone line noise, etc) and consistent. The
last version available was 5.0
