So, what did I miss? Its been a long time since I checked out the PPCMLA or even the 68kmla (probably 2 years at least). Anything exciting going on? Got rid of 95% of the collection, probably will ditch most of the rest and focus on one or two machines. So, how's it going with everyone? Very Happy

Eh, PPCMLA kind of withered to nearly nothing for awhile, then had a resurgence again in the past month. It's been slow for the past week or so, though.

It seems to come and go right now. All we need is to convince people to talk more here when it comes to PPC issues.

I think the problem is a catch-22. the more people posting here, the more traffic we have, but we need to have traffic to get people to post here, and have quickly answered posts Confused

PPC is the future.

Just imagine, a few years from now, people will be dumping working Quad G5s off at the recyclers.

Holy çrap. No one could possibly argue that you can't still do some amazing things with a Quad G5. You can pump out HD video on a rig like that.

there already were imac g5s at the recycler near me. i was able to fix one up for them (it really had nothing wrong with it, other than a pressure mark on the screen. the users just upgraded—my god did that make me angry) Mad

Wow. Well I'm glad that you were able to rescue one. That is what the PPCMLA is all about, after all.

I'm with you guys, though. It is my hope that the market value on PPC Macs drops off in the near future so that machines like the G5 become "impulse buys".

Peace,
Drew

I *do* pump out HD video on my quad G5. And once they get really cheap, I'll be stocking up on spares. For me, it's the sweet spot. Already got my spare MDDs cheaply ... Very Happy

Good luck! It would be very interesting to see Mac OS X running on a Cell...

Peace,

Not only on Cell. Generally it will work with PPC970MP but Cell BE will be used as a co-processor.
